The NIHR/CNO Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship (C-DRF) is aimed at post-degree nurses, midwives and allied health professionals sited in England who have at least 1 year's experience of clinical practice since graduating, have had sufficient research experience or research training to prepare them to undertake a PhD, and who wish to obtain a PhD by research whilst still developing their clinical skills.
The C-DRF is an individual training award and offers funding to cover the salary costs of the award holder, their PhD tuition fees, and the costs of an appropriate research project and training and development programme. A C-DRF award will require that the individual has a contract of employment with the Host Employer for the duration of the Fellowship.
Please note that applicants must have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or the Health Professionals Council (HPC) at the point of award.

For this round of awards, the NIHR particularly welcomes applications that pertain to dementia research from individuals intending to be hosted by known centres of health research excellence. The host organisation (for example, a NIHR Biomedical Research Centre) need not have any particular track record in the field of dementia research.
